The Magic Flute

The fourth and fifth grade students of St. James School under the direction of Sister Dorene King, OSB, presented an abbreviated production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute for the Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery on Friday morning, June 1, 2012.The young actors brought costumes, makeup, musical instruments, and props and set up their stage area in Rockhurst Meeting Room. The special production was well attended by the Sisters. Portions of the actual opera music were played during the production and lyrics were sung by solo actors or the whole group.Following the show students enjoyed conversation and lunch with the Sisters, after which they were given a tour of the Monastery and grounds before they returned to St. James School.
