Sunday, October 16 – Homecoming Eucharist

Entrance Procession

Sister Lois Eckes, Prioress, and Father Bill Graham, Presider, process into the Chapel during the opening hymn.

Sisters, students and families gathered for the 11:00 Eucharist at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at St. Scholastica.  For many, it was the culmination of a full and special weekend with many options.

All Proclaim God's Praise

All sing God’s praises.

In the Sunday scriptures we heard that God has called us by name (Isaiah 45).  In the response, we are challenged to Give the Lord glory and honor (Psalm 96).  In Thessalonians 1 we heard: Grace to you and peace.  In the Gospel Jesus proclaims:  Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God. (Matthew 22).  We are challenged to be religious people as well as people concerned about our government – its due, its responsibilities and ours.

Sister Lois Speaks to the Students

Sister Lois addresses the students.

Sister Lois thanked all for joining the Community in celebrating the Eucharist.  She told the students that they are always welcome to join the Sisters at the Eucharist, Community Prayer, or to personally pray in the Chapel.

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
–St. Benedict of Nursia, The Rule of Saint Benedict
