Signs of spring are everywhere. The birds are chirping, and the animals are stirring in the woods. Trees are budding, and flowers are making their beauty known. People are working in their gardens and strolling along the Lakewalk. Dandelions and violets are popping up. I am so grateful that signs of spring are everywhere! They give us hope of warmer days filled with sunshine and fun. The signs of spring also bring to mind the goodness of God. God blesses us with the changing seasons and the promise of New Life. God is constantly giving us signs of his love. God gives us signs that He longs to be intimately involved in our lives. Yet, sometimes we miss the signs of God’s activity in our lives. |
Can you recognize God active in the ordinary?
Have you noticed a strong desire to praise and thank God?
Do you feel a great sense of happiness and peace while at prayer or after receiving the Eucharist?
Are you moved to show greater love for family and friends?
Do you have a strong desire to reach out and help someone in need?
Do you yearn to pray more or sit quietly with God?
Would you like to study the Bible or learn more about your Faith?
These signs might not jump out and grab our attention like the bulging lilac buds that foreshadow fragrant flowers, but these signs are there nonetheless. They are signs that God loves us and is entreating us to take notice and respond!

Sister Lisa MaurerSister Lisa Maurer was born and raised in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Before entering the Monastery, she taught and coached in Catholic Schools within the New Ulm Diocese. Sister Lisa made her first Monastic Profession in August 2009 and on July 11, 2012, she made her Perpetual Profession. Her first ministry was working at the parishes of St. Lawrence and St. Joseph in Duluth. Currently she is the Mission Integration Manager of the Benedictine Health System.
