Silent Directed Retreat for Shalom Group

Shalom retreat participants and leaders
The Shalom weekend retreat participants and leaders
The Shalom Spiritual Direction team and participants gathered for a silent directed retreat at the Monastery on January 14-16.   The retreat offered opportunities for personal prayer as well as prayer with the Monastic Community, silence and group faith sharing, and meeting with a spiritual director.   The retreat was a special time of blessings as it unfolded for each person. The participants were very grateful for the sisters’ prayers, hospitality, the sharing of their home, liturgy, presence, love, and peace.

The next Shalom Spiritual Direction training session will begin in September of 2011.  This program is designed to assist people in their own spiritual growth as well as to prepare them for the ministry of spiritual direction.  Twenty-five individuals are currently enrolled.   This group meets monthly at the Monastery over a period of two years, with the second year being a formal internship leading to a certification.  For more information contact: Sr. Michelle Dosch at 218-723-6521 or mdosch2000@yahoo.com.

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
–St. Benedict of Nursia, The Rule of Saint Benedict
