Twenty-six participants in the Shalom Spiritual Directors program made the spring retreat. As the group entered Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel for Evening Prayer with the Sisters, they were greeted by an icon with these words: “Were not our hearts gradually catching fire within us as He spoke to us on the road to Emmaus” (Luke 24). That was the Easter scripture they reflected upon as they prayed, read, contemplated, and met with their mentors during this silent directed retreat.

During the closing prayer service, they each considered how they had experienced Christ’s light during the retreat and were challenged to more fully carry that light into their lives.
