Monastery Hosts St. Rose of Lima Parish High School Choirs

The Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery recently had the opportunity to be chorally entertained by the St. Rose of Lima Parish High School Choir who came from Roseville, Minnesota, to sing for them.  The 24 students and their director Julie Strahan presented an energetic and beautiful program of common sing-along songs and favorite hymns. Julie Strahan has passion for her work with the young people that was made apparent by the fun they all appeared to be having together.

Afterward they enjoyed refreshments and visiting with the Sisters in Rockhurst Dining Room. The young people glowed with youthful and easy confidence that delighted the Sisters in their conversations with them.

With their talent, social ease, and energy, one observer noted, the whole event was “dynamite!”

The weekend schedule, though, stole the choir away. They left to sing at St. James Catholic School in North Duluth, and later enjoyed a visit to the Water Park. On Sunday, the choir sang at Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel.  A Sister, who was at both events, declared that as wonderfully as they sang on Saturday, they sounded even better on Sunday, very much enhancing the Eucharist experience with their voices.

We thank you, St. Rose of Lima Choir, and please do come again!
