This Memorial Day in Duluth was a day borrowed from July: sunny, 80 degrees, and light winds. Our crab apple trees and lilacs were in full bloom as we celebrated with an ice cream social. Some remained in the dining room, but others sat together in the apple-blossom shade, eating ice cream, and sharing stories.
We join our prayers with those of all the world for a just and peaceful resolution to all conflicts, and for an end to war as the means of solving disagreements between peoples and nations. Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin in our hearts.
