Jesus, Take the Wheel

Do we only cry out “Jesus take the wheel” when we are about to crash?  When things are out of control? Or do we let Jesus steer our lives all the time?

So often we take the wheel and do all the steering. Instead of letting Jesus steer, we want to be behind the wheel calling all the shots. We think we can handle things. We want to be in control. We rush head long into our own plans without considering what Jesus wants for us. We think we have a better plan, a better direction and we think Jesus should agree with us. In other words we place Jesus in the back seat. It must grieve Jesus when we put him in the back seat of our lives. He doesn’t want us to go things alone. He wants to lead us, to help us, to show us the way to the Father.

Dear Jesus, give us your help. We need your grace to give up control. Bless us with the gifts of trust and surrender. We want to follow the path you have set.  Today and always, take the wheel!

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
