Enjoyed and Savored

After receiving Communion this past Sunday, I began my prayer by saying, “Dear Jesus, now that you are so near to me.” I was immediately interrupted by a strong message that came to my inner being. The message was, “I am no nearer to you now than before.”  I was so moved by this message, that I did not know how to respond. So, I sat in silence, only brought back by the priest invoking the prayer after Communion.

I am still at a loss on what to make of such a gift that came to me in a simple moment of prayer. “Thank you, Jesus” is all I have to say. And, maybe that is all there is to say. It seems that such graced moments do not need to be analyzed or dissected, they only need to be enjoyed and savored.

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
