Holy Week is definitely a week like no other. This week encapsulates the foundation of our Christian faith – the suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord. As followers of Jesus we are drawn into his story and are bid to place ourselves in it. We are invited to recognize and realize that in Jesus’ story we find the pattern for our own lives. Now is not the time to lose heart. We are so close. Having journeyed with Jesus into and through the desert of Lent, Holy Week is not the time to turn back. We need to stay strong and stay the course. Our commitment is called forth as we continue to follow Jesus to Jerusalem, to Golgotha.
During these High Holy Days we will encounter Jesus in many ways. We will all personally experience the events of Jesus’ final week. We will be exposed to pain and anguish, betrayal and fear. Yet through it all, Jesus will be with us. For our part we need to remain faithful and close to Jesus. We need to be watchful and attentive trusting that Jesus’ ultimate victory is our victory, too! May this Holy Week be a week like no other!
