Lover of the Dance

The curtain opens
The stage is set
Painted sky of blue
Buildings made of stone
The ballet has begun
Symphony of sound
Wind in the trees
Crescendos then fades
As leaves bend and sway
Well rehearsed over time
Billowy clouds rush in
One by one they come
Then join in communion
Filling the horizon
Beneath them in silence
Or so it seems
Lies a sleeping giant
Of rich slate blue
At closer view it churns
White caps rolling
Swelling in rhythm
Rushing to rocky shores
And overhead flies a gull
Dressed in wedding white
It pirouettes joyfully
As it floats on air
Solo dancer center stage
Waiting in anticipation
And now there are two
A pas de deux of trust
Precision timing
Grace on display
As if two are now one
A new journey has begun
They exit the stage
Leaping in arabesque
To thunderous applause
Of creation gazing in awe
Clouds in constant motion
Part ways and travel on
To a stage yet unknown
Ready to set new horizons
And the lover of the dance
Breathes in deep wonder
While music slowly fades
And leaves bend and sway
Behind the falling curtain
