A Mothers Day Visit

Our live-in volunteer, Cecelia Hanon, invited her daughter-in-law Elizabeth and five grandchildren to visit the Community for Mothers Day. They toured public areas of the monastery, the chapel and the college entrance and joined the Sisters for Sunday dinner. We loved the sound of children’s voices, especially when they are as well behaved as Ryleigh, Micah, Zanah, Asher Miles and Emmie.

After dinner, Sister Martha Bechtold (left) entertained the children with balloon animals. She was assisted by Sister Barbara Higgins (right) who oversees our volunteer program.

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
–St. Benedict of Nursia, The Rule of Saint Benedict
