Watching Closely

My mom and my aunt came to visit me last week. My mom wanted to see the ships coming in and out of the harbor, and to watch the Aerial Lift Bridge go up and down. So, we planned our day around shipping activities in Canal Park on the shores of Lake Superior.

Even though we knew the arrival and departure times of the various ships we continued to watch closely for ship sightings. We also watched the bridge closely for any signs of movement.

There was a time in Jesus’ life when people were watching him closely. In the Gospel of Luke, we hear that the Scribes and Pharisees were watching Jesus closely, but they were doing so “that they might discover a reason to accuse him” (Luke 6:7). If only they were watching closely for the right reasons.

Are you watching Jesus closely?

“Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith.” – Hebrews 12:2
