Students Participate in “Who’s That Sister?” Scavenger Hunt!

Upon returning from Spring Break, students were invited to participate in a scavenger hunt appropriately entitled “Who’s That Sister?”  They had one week to find the answers to fifteen clues, all but two of which had as an answer a Sister’s name from the community of the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth, MN.

The hunt took them through historic Tower Hall, around the Science Building, including the brand new Benedictine Commons, into the Monastery, and searching through the Monastery and College websites.  The picture at left shows students poring over the history boards in the Monastery to find the “Sister who conducted research in Antarctica in 1974” (Answer: Sister Mary Odile Calhoun).

Based on the enthusiasm of those who participated, the event was a success! The first place winners – Alisha Peterson, Megan Janczak, Amber Bromenschenkel (l-r) – pictured with Sister Mary Rochefort, OSB, Associate Vice-President for Mission Integration at the College – enjoyed searching for answers to the clues.  They are now looking forward to claiming their prize – supper with a guest at the Monastery!  The second place winner, Devin Hanlon, won a $10 gift certificate to the Monastery gift shop.

Stay tuned for more fun and creative activities during the 2014-2015 school year which will bring students and Sisters together, to renew and strengthen current relationships, and to build new ones!
