Sister Ann Marie Wainright – Glimpsing Eternity

This day, this moment, is sacred.

You will never see it or experience it again.

To think otherwise is to believe

deceiving eyes, and

irrational mind over

the wisdom contained in

the soul’s eye.

The small black butterfly posing

vainly

on rocky path for your camera’s lens

you will not see again,

or the waves passing under the pier

or the breeze cooling your sun-soaked skin.

This day, this moment, is a rare gift.

Grace.

If you choose, you can make it last

forever –

not with the light of your eye,

but by the lamp within your soul.

You might see, truly,

that this day,

this moment,

you have pierced the darkness, and

glimpsed eternity.
