It had been 679 days since The College of St. Scholastica had a football game. It had been almost two years of waiting, planning and practicing without a game in sight. As someone who is connected to the team, I can attest that it has been a long wait. But, finally, we can say “here we go!”
There is an energy pulsating on campus! Most of you know that football brings me great joy but there are so many other things this fall that make me smile. Thankfully, most all of CSS is in-person. With proper precautions, sporting events, club meetings and academic activities are happening again. It’s music to my ears when I hear the band practice, and it is a pleasant site when I see students and faculty milling about in hallways and congregating in Storm’s Den.
Whether I’m on campus for meetings or to attend sporting events, it’s evident to me that we are truly blessed to be Benedictine. Our Benedictine foundation upholds and directs us. In his Rule, St. Benedict tells that “in His loving kindness the Lord shows us the way of life” and that we should “run while we have the light of life.” So, come on! What are you waiting for? Here we go!
