Sister Lois Eckes, board member of the Damiano Center, was among dozens of volunteers across St. Louis County who helped conduct an annual survey of the number of people who are homeless. The annual count, at a time determined by the federal government, helps provide an idea of the number of people who are most in need. In addition, it helps determine how much homelessness support the county will receive from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
