Thanksgiving is this week. It is great that we have day set aside for giving thanks. But thankfulness should not be limited to just that one Thursday in November. We should always cultivate thankfulness.
Here are some simple yet meaningful ways to cultivate thankfulness.
Make a List
Take time to make a list of all the blessings in your life. Everything from oxygen to winning the lottery. Nothing is too big or too small to make your list. Making a list will make you more aware of just how much for which you have to be thankful.
Thank God
Tell God “thank you” for all that is in your life. We are called to be thankful at all times. Everything we have, everything we are comes from God. Give God the thanks that He is due.
Slow Down
You need to slow down to cultivate thankfulness and appreciate all that is and enjoy all you have. As Ferris Bueller famously said “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Share
Nothing cultivates thankfulness more than sharing. Share a good word with someone, give them a compliment, write them a note of gratitude or offer a smile. Share your blessings by donating your time and treasure.
