A Wonderful Crowd

A Wonderful Crowd

Last week I attended the first home volleyball game of the year at The College of St. Scholastica.  And, so did a lot of students! There was a wonderful crowd gathered to support and cheer on the team. I am not saying that it was the stands full of fans that won the game for the Saints, but I am pretty sure they helped.

It is well known that home field advantage, in this case home court advantage, can mean everything in sports. Teams who play at “home” often have a far better record than those on the road. When a team has a wonderful crowd cheering them on, they often play their best.

The Bible tells us that we, too, have a wonderful crown cheering us on. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

This wonderful crowd is always rooting for us. When we get scared, they are cheering for us to be courageous. When we want to give up, they’re urging us to keep going. When we lose energy, they inspire us to dig deep and call on the Holy Spirit. Let us never forget that we are not alone on our journey of faith.

What are the things you think you could do if you really believed that you had a wonderful heavenly crowd cheering you on?

Who are the faithful people in your life who have gone on before you and might be a part of your wonderful crowd?
