Sister Ministry: Holy Leisure

Sister Josine wrote about community jigsaw puzzles for our last Annual Report. At the time she was Subprioress, and is now enjoying some holy leisure of her own as she prepares for her next ministry.

“As Sub-Prioress I help care for Sisters’ needs, spending time with them and getting to know them. Sometimes this is stressful, but I believe we can’t walk in Christ’s footsteps without getting some blood on our feet.

“Working jigsaw puzzles in the Community Room lets me relax and let the mind wander. Often a Sister will pause in her afternoon routine to sit and search for a piece. I enjoy the companionable silence that sometimes says more than words. It reminds me that interruptions are my work.”

Sister Josine Krausnick

“Do not yield to the temptation to see things in terms of numbers and efficiency. People who work must take the time to relax.”

Pope Francis

“Our humanity comes to its fullest bloom in giving. We become beautiful people when we give whatever we can give: a smile, a handshake, a kiss, an embrace, a word of love, a present, a part of our life...all of our life.”
–Henri Nouwen
