LIFE

Summer is a wonderful time to see life.  It is bursting forth everywhere!   Flowers and trees are showing off their best.  Barnyards and pastures are teeming fold and flock.

But where and how do we find the life promised by Jesus?  It might not be as easily noticeable as a ducks or rose blooms.  But for people of faith we know this life is ours.   Jesus promised life in Him.  He said He came that we “may have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10).  What an incredible gift Jesus has given us!

The life promised by Jesus is actually found everywhere.  If we look with eyes of faith and rely on the Spirit, we will more easily recognize the gift of life.  We will recognize it in the people around us, situations and circumstances of daily events.  We will see life in the sunshine and the rain, in the exciting moments and the ordinary.  And, most importantly we will recognize the life of Jesus that is deep within our hearts!

Jesus offers us life anew by the forgiveness of our sins.  Jesus offers life afresh by the gift of the Spirit.  Jesus offers ever-lasting life by His death and resurrection!

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
–St. Benedict of Nursia, The Rule of Saint Benedict
