Lenten Retreat – St. Paul’s Spirituality and Our Call”

Sister Pauline and some participants in the Lenten Retreat

This retreat was presented twice:  on March 10, 2012, at St. Michael’s Parish in Duluth and again on March 17, 2012, at St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth.  Some 28 participants spent some time apart from their everyday lives to focus on St. Paul’s life and spirituality.  After looking at background material on St. Paul’s life, the first session focused on what it means to “LIVE IN CHRIST.”  The second session considered how “Living in Christ” will lead us to the Cross and our own call to ongoing conversion.  The two retreats were well received and the participants welcomed the time for reflection and integration after the sessions. These retreats were facilitated by Sister Pauline Micke, OSB, Director of the Benedictine Center of Spirituality and Sister Ann Marie Wainright who is also on the staff of the Benedictine Center of Spirituality.

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
–St. Benedict of Nursia, The Rule of Saint Benedict
