The Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery along with the College of St. Scholastica Campus Ministry held an Advent Vespers entitled “A Service of Story and Song” on December 6.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel was filled with members of the Monastic Community, students, faculty, and staff of CSS as well as family and friends of both the College and the Monastery. The prayer service, beginning in dark and silence, was awakened by candlelight and music to set the tone for an Advent experience.
The Sisters’ Schola under the direction of Regina Roemhildt and the CSS Bell Voce and Women’s Choirs under the direction of Bret Amundson, along with several instrumentalists led the assembly in prayerful and reflective songs of longing, hope, and the expectation of the Messiah and the coming of God’s reign.
The prayer service was concluded with a lighted candle procession to the front of Tower Hall. All were invited to gather for and participate in the ceremonial “Lighting a Tradition,” which celebrated the illumination of the outdoor Christmas lights.
