God is good and knows how to get my attention. Anything related to sports catches my eye, quickens my heart and stirs my imagination. So when I read this quote during my morning prayer, just days before my Perpetual Profession, I knew I had to take note!
Yes, indeed the ball is in my court. God has led me to this place and time. And, what a trip it has been! Like in a movie montage, I see the snippets of my life that have prepared me to take this step, to make this choice. In my mind’s eye I float back to the fourth grade and Sister Arnold, all the times singing Amy Grant songs around the campfire out at Golden Gate, and high school N.E.T. retreats (just to name a few). Of course, with great love and gratitude, I think of the many, many people who have inspired me and encouraged me. All in all, I am able to see the beautiful way God has been active in my life. And I also see the times when he has patiently, very patiently, waited for me to respond to his action. I trust that each and every one of us can trace God’s action and revelation running through our lives. Taking the prayerful time to reflect upon our corresponding response is worthwhile. I recommend it!The thought of making a lifelong commitment to seek God with the Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery brings a great deal of joy to my heart. I rejoice in the fact that out of love God has called me and because of his goodness to me I can respond. I rejoice because the action of making my Perpetual Monastic Profession is the culmination of many years of longing to be in a consecrated relationship with my Lord, who is my Love and my Life.

Sister Lisa MaurerSister Lisa Maurer was born and raised in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Before entering the Monastery, she taught and coached in Catholic Schools within the New Ulm Diocese. Sister Lisa made her first Monastic Profession in August 2009. Her first ministry was working at the parishes of St. Lawrence and St. Joseph in Duluth.
