National Vocations Awareness Week

Since we are in the middle of National Vocations Awareness Week, I thought it was a good time to give a few ideas of ways that we can foster vocations.
  • Ask a young person if they have ever considered a vocation to religious life or the priesthood.
  • Talk positively about vocations within the Church.
  • Include being a priest, religious brother or sister in your hopes and dreams for any young people you know.
  • Name the gifts that you see in a young person. Tell them why you think they would make a good priest, brother, or sister.
  • Donate to organizations that promote and foster vocations.
  • Witness to your own vocation. Whether you are married, single, a priest ,or a vowed religious, share your vocation story with young people.
  • Pray for vocations to religious life and the priesthood.

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
