“I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” Psalm 77:12
These words of the Psalmist should be our words, too. Our daily prayer should include considering the works of the Lord and time for meditating on his mighty deeds. We should not take our faith for granted nor forget or dismiss all the wonderful things our Lord has done for us.
The mightiest deeds of the Lord are of course the death and resurrection of Jesus. Each time we encounter Jesus in the Eucharist or in the Sacrament of Reconciliation we are experiencing mighty deeds. The Grand Canyon, the life-cycle of a butterfly, and a newborn baby are all certainly on the list of the Lord’s works. There are just so many works and mighty deeds that reveal the goodness and holiness and mercy of the Lord! The list is long.
As often as you can today, consider the mighty deeds of the Lord. Recite the Niece Creed slowly, meditate on each phrase. Call to mind the places that you traveled and the sights you have seen. Remember family and friends. Recall favorite Scripture passages and hymns. May these acts of remembrance deepen your faith, inspire gratitude, and motivate you to strengthen your relationship with the Lord.
Lord, I am in awe of your works and mighty deeds! I am thankful for your goodness. Help me to a life worthy of all these wonderful things.
