I’m assuming we’ve all completed a dot-to-dot, a little puzzle where you connect the dots in the correct pattern to reveal a picture. Something like that happened to the one leper who came back to thank Jesus after he was healed (Luke 17:11-19). He connected the dots and saw the picture. He recognized that his healing came from Jesus. And rightly, he returned to say thank you.
Do we connect the dots? Not on some child’s worksheet, but in our lives? Do we recognize all that God does for us? Or are we like the nine lepers who do not come back to say thank you? Do we fail to connect the dots?
Unfortunately we don’t often connect the dots. We often fail to stop, reflect, and thank God for the things that He has done, and the prayers He has answered. We are too quick to move on to our next need or we foolishly think our blessings are a result of coincidence or the result of our own doing. When good things happen to us, when we receive blessings, when we experience healings, we need to give praise and thanks to God. We need to connect the dots.
“All good giving and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17a)
