National Vocation Awareness Week

by admin on January 11, 2012

Each year during the second week of January (9-14), the Catholic bishops of the United States remind us all of the need to reflect upon the dignity of our calling as baptized Christians to help spread the Kingdom of God on earth.

Each person needs to pray and discern earnestly what God’s will is for him/her as we strive to love God with our whole heart, soul, body, mind, and strength.  Some may discern that God is asking them to dedicate their entire lives to serving God and God’s people by choosing the consecrated life.

Women in Formation at the Benedictine St. Scholastica Monastery

This photo shows six women who have answered the call to enter our Benedictine monastic community and are in initial formation at various stages.   (Two additional women in First Monastic Profession are not pictured.)   These women have answered God’s call in a unique way.   How are you fulfilling your particular vocation to serve Him?

If you would like to know more about this way of life for yourself, check out  Join Us As a Sister on this web site.  The person to contact is Sister Mary Catherine Shambour, Vocation Director, at mcshambour@duluthosb.org  or 218-723-6646.
