Ever since coming to St. Scholastica Monastery in 2007 as a Postulant, I have felt a connection with the Sisters. There is something true and genuine about Benedictine Hospitality. The Sisters, from day one, have welcomed me into their monastic community. I admire these women who have given their lives to God and service within the Church. They give me such a wonderful example of “the good zeal which monks must foster with fervent love” (Rule of Benedict 72:3). I have grown to love and admire these women as friends and, well, as Sisters.

Every day I try to spend some time with one of these special Sisters who has become my friend, Sister Rita Ann. During our visits, we talk about my day and hers; what was for lunch or what happened at my work in the parish. Sometimes, she tells me stories of her work at the Orphanage and I talk to her about my years of coaching and teaching. But this past week we did something special. We went shopping! Sister Rita Ann and I spent an afternoon out and about. We had a great time!
I love my Sisters!
With joy in Christ,
Sister Lisa

Sister Lisa,
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. I have also experienced such hospitality from the Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery. It sounds like you’ve found a home there.
